Rethinking Lovett Boulevard

The purpose of this project is to develop a vision for Lovett Boulevard between Graustark and Montrose.

This area is in the heart of Montrose and exciting things are happening- both in the public and private realms. The City has been approached recently by several property owners about the projects they’re planning. This is why we’ve decided to take a closer look at Lovett Boulevard and surrounding blocks in particular. We need a framework for considering requests from property owners relative to the right-of-way, building setbacks, driveways and parking. Recently completed plans for the Montrose area provide guidance, but more detail is needed.

We met with abutting property owners May 6, 2021 to consider 'big ideas' based on recommendations from the Montrose Livable Centers Study and the Walk + Bike Montrose Plan. With feedback from participants in mind, we developed more detailed concepts. We presented these to abutting property owners on June 29, 2021. After further refinement and conversations with the community, the concepts could be implemented by the City, Montrose TIRZ or private property owners if funding becomes available.

DESIGN CONCEPTS: In addition to an overall vision, more detailed concepts have been developed for three focus areas: 1) Western Block, 2) The Intersection of Lovett, Mt. Vernon and Commonwealth, and 3) the Intersection of Lovett and Yoakum. View these proposed design concepts on our Miro Board. Use your mouse to pan around and to zoom in on the drawings.
