Project Overview

The Parker Road Safety Improvement Project is currently proposed as a 1.6-mile street redesign from Fulton Street to Exeter Street in the Northline/Northside neighborhood. The project would be done in phases and addresses traffic safety concerns expressed by community members. It is aligned with the City's Vision Zero commitment to end traffic deaths and serious injuries and improve street safety for everyone who walks, bikes, uses a wheelchair and drives. The project is currently in the conceptual phase.

In addition to being identified in the Houston Bike Plan, the Parker Road Safety Improvement project aims to improve safety for all road users. This includes street redesign to slow vehicle speeds, a barrier-protected space to decrease the likelihood of drivers veering off the roadway and hitting objects, and intersection enhancements to make it safer for people walking and biking to cross the street.
