Help Create the new MSC Dreamcatcher sculpture with artist Jesse Lott

Help Create the new MSC Dreamcatcher sculpture with artist Jesse Lott

Houston renowned artist, a long-time Fifth Ward resident, and recently named Texas State three-dimensional artist for 2022 Jesse Lott, will create The Dreamcatcher, a sculpture to be installed on the exterior of the center. The community will have a hand in deciding key elements of this work. "The voices of local residents will help guide the central imagery of the sculpture—whether it's a sun, a family, or another element that encompasses the spirit of Sunnyside," said Lott. "The community will also be engaged to source materials that are authentic to the neighborhood for incorporation into The Dreamcatcher."

Have you ever dreamed of flying through the clouds, or just wondered what it would be like? Well, welcome to new beginnings in 2022. We are excited to invite you to attend this 2022 Houston Tech Rodeo event with us. On behalf of Black History Month--and in honor of the legacy and impact of Black aviation and innovation--NANCo Aero is proud to present: Advanced Air Mobility, Steampunk and #SkyFreedom! The Future is now. The NANCo Aero(External link) team--in conjunction with Houston Tech Rodeo and UH Downtown--is bringing #SkyFreedom to Houston through this open panel discussion on Advanced Air Mobility(External link) with a little added Sci-Fi flare.

Our diverse team of innovators curated this community event to bring the innovation of Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) and the wonderment of Steampunk to inspire minds and foster the spirit of #SkyFreedom, curiosity and exploration for all. A significant intersection exists between Tech Innovators, and Sci-Fi enthusiasts. Steampunk is all about retro-futuristic tech, and this is all about AAM at the Tech Rodeo in HTX. This panel sets a precedent to unify efforts that make Houston a more AAM-friendly city while presenting new innovations in transportation tech, and adding a Steampunk vibe for a little fun. Through #SkyFreedom, NANCo Aero will ensure access to the sky for all! #FlyHouston2025! This is Houston history in the making, and you better be there. It's only up from here. We Need Your Help! Blueridge Historic Designation

Do you know about the history of Blueridge and the surrounding area? The City of Houston is working to learn more about the historic development of this area and the people who have lived and may still live in the area. Please help to share your stories, photos, articles, maps and any information you may have on the area, its residents, culture, and architecture.

This information is needed in order to establish eligibility for a historic designation for the area with the Texas Historical Commission and Government Land Office. With historic designation, more Harvey repair funds will be unlocked to restore homes instead of demolishing and building new.
